The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has declared that the party did not organise the South-South Zonal Congress held in Calabar on February 22 by loyalists of Federal Capital Territory, Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at the inauguration of the South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee in Abuja, Damagum clarified that the tenure of the previous zonal executives had just expired and that an official congress would be conducted in due time.
He urged party leaders to remain firm and not align with the ruling All Progressives Congress, arguing that the PDP remains Nigeria’s best political alternative ahead of 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Chairman Emmanuel Ogidi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to carry out the committee’s duties impartially.
