The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State during the 2023 general election, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, known as Jandor met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa Monday afternoon.
According to the Cable, the unannounced two-hour meeting follows Jandor’s recent resignation from the PDP, citing “indiscipline and anti-party activities.” He has yet to announce his next political affiliation.
Jandor was formerly an APC member before defecting to the PDP. He finished third in the 2023 Lagos governorship race with 62,449 votes, behind Governor Sanwo-Olu’s 762,134 and Labour Party’s Rhodes-Vivour’s 312,329 votes.
In his resignation letter, Jandor expressed disappointment with PDP leadership at both national and state levels. He suggested plans to move his political structure to another platform after widespread consultation.
The details of Jandor’s meeting with Tinubu remain unclear, but sources within Aso Rock suggest it was a fence-mending move that could pave the way for his return to the APC or an alliance ahead of the 2027 general election.
Before meeting Tinubu, Jandor visited former Heads of State Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, as well as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and SDP officials.
