The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press conference in his campaign office in Ikeja, Adediran who quit the PDP last week, noted that the decision to rejoin APC was because the party was the best alternative to deliver good governance to Lagosians and Nigerians.
He said, “Before you are quick to remind me of the reasons why I dumped APC, I want to say that there is a Yoruba adage that says, if a woman has not tried two husbands, she would not know which one is better”.
He said his decision to return to APC was taken after due consultation with his political supporters and associates across Lagos State.
The decision may not entirely come as a surprise following his widely reported meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, last week.
Jandor also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, for their roles in facilitating his return to the APC.
Jandor left the APC with his Lagos4Lagos Movement, a group within the ruling party in 2022 to the PDP before the 2023 election and emerged as the governorship candidate of the party in Lagos. But he lost to APC’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
