The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja has dismissed a case filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) seeking to nullify the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The three-member panel, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, ended proceedings after the SDP withdrew its petition.
SDP’s counsel, Jackson Ehiavhie, informed the tribunal that the party no longer wished to pursue the case, following instructions from its national secretariat.
The SDP was among six parties challenging the outcome of the September 21, 2024, governorship election, on the premise that the election violated the Electoral Act due to the alleged failure to electronically transmit votes.
