The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned the suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo, Oba Semiu Ogunjobi, for assaulting a 73-year-old man, Elder Abraham Areola.
Ogunjobi pleaded not guilty to the three charges of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and was granted bail set at N5 million with two sureties.
According to Force Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the case was adjourned to March 6.
The Ogun State government suspended the traditional ruler after a viral video showed him physically attacking the elderly man, accusing him of betrayal.
According to the Committee for Human Rights, Ogunjobi initially denied involvement but later confessed at the Ogun State Police Headquarters and attempted to appease the victim with a plot of land.
