Senior Polytechnics workers under the umbrella of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP, have suspended the planned three days warning strike after meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment and other government relevant stakeholders.
Recall that the association had at the weekend, issued the warning strike notice to commence on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 as a result of some contentious issues which bordered on career progression of SSANIP members to CONTEDISS 15, BSc./HND dichotomy and the alleged usurpation of positions meant for their members by the teaching staff in polytechnics.
In a memo to members announcing the suspension of the warning strike, SSANIP National Secretary, Comrade Nura Shehu Gaya, explained that some of the contentious issues were resolved after a meeting with the government representatives facilitated and conciliated by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammad Maigari Dangyadi.
