No less than 12 people have died following a cholera outbreak in four local government areas of Adamawa State.
Health Commissioner, Felix Tangwami confirmed the outbreak during a media briefing in Yola, revealing that over 300 people were hospitalised, with 244 already discharged.
The affected areas include Yola North, Yola South, Girei, and Fufore, where flooding and poor hygiene are believed to have contributed to the spread.
Tangwami added that 30 samples have been sent to the national reference lab to confirm the cause, while patients are isolated at Yola’s Infectious Disease Centre.
He urged residents to remain calm and improve hygiene practices to prevent further spread.
