The Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, has canceled various traders’ associations in the markets of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, to curb the high prices of foodstuff.
The monarch, alongside the Ewi-in-Council, issued directives on Monday during a meeting with market leaders, setting fixed prices for essential goods.
Vegetables are to be sold at no more than N50, pepper at N100, garri at N700, and a kilogram of meat at N4,500.
Oba Adejugbe emphasized that these measures aim to prevent traders from inflating prices through middlemen, ensuring farmers have direct access to traders and making life more affordable for residents.
The monarch said Chiefs will monitor compliance, with sanctions for those who disobey.
