The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has labelled the nomination fees announced by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) for the upcoming local government chairmanship election – unconstitutional and exorbitant.
OGSIEC had announced a N250,000 administrative fee for chairmanship candidates, N150,000 for councillorship candidates while Female councillorship candidates are required to pay N100,000.
But the party said the fees violate the principles of free and fair elections and favours only the wealthy.
The party’s legal team warned that if the fees are not withdrawn, they will take further action to protect their client’s rights.
