Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, says the military and security agencies are pursuing those calling for undemocratic change of government.
Musa said this on Tuesday during a combined news conference by the heads of security agencies and service chiefs at the Defense Headquarters.
He stated that some protesters were sponsored, and authorities are working to apprehend them.
While stressing the military’s commitment to supporting the President in achieving peace and tranquility, Musa called for calm and dialogue.
On his part, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, said the main operational commitment of the army was to deploy resources to combat the protests that had turned riots to ensure sustainable peace in the country.
He assured that attention hasn’t been diverted from combating terrorism and banditry despite addressing recent protests.
The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla and Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country.
