The University of Benin (Edo State), University of Ibadan (Oyo State), Bayero University (Kano State), University of Ilorin (Kwara State), University of Maiduguri (Borno State), and Federal University Dutsin-Ma (Katsina State) have been listed as six federal universities whose students benefitted from the first batch of loans disbursed by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
According to a statement by NELFUND’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Nasir Ayitogo, the total fees disbursed amounted to over N2,026,163,340 and were given directly to the institutions.
These universities commenced new academic sessions, prompting the disbursements while additional institutions will receive funds as their sessions begin.
Detailed disbursements include N853,775,000 to Bayero University, N589,001,500 to University of Maiduguri, N304,961,890 to Federal University Dutsin-Ma, N201,114,650 to University of Ibadan, N52,897,890 to University of Ilorin, and N24,412,500 to University of Benin.
Ayitogo noted that further disbursements are expected next week.
