The Indian capital is grappling with acute water shortages amid a prolonged heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 40°C for weeks, thereby leading to increased demand for both electricity and water.
But Atishi, from the Aam Aadmi Party, accuses neighboring Haryana state of restricting water supply from the Yamuna River which Haryana’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party denies.
