Some primary and secondary schools in Lagos State may resume from the current mid-term cum Sallah break due to the outbreak of cholera in some parts of the state.
This was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Primary and Basic Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun.
Alli-Balogun stated that the ministry would have to wait for an advisory from the Ministry of Health to know the next line of action, noting that the state government is not resting on its oars and has been taking steps to curb the outbreak of the disease.
No less than 15 persons have been killed by the disease in Lagos State in the last two weeks.
Earlier, the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, a few days ago raised the alarm that the government should ensure that the current outbreak of cholera is not allowed to spread to the school environment.
