The Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun in company of the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu have met President Bola Tinubu on Thursday.
Although Edun did not explain the agenda of the meeting with the President, it may not be unconnected with the marching orders given to him by the President on Tuesday to come up with figures to be presented to the organized labour at the Tripartite Committee on the new national minimum wage.
Recall that the Tripartite Committee meeting could not achieve much on Wednesday as a result of the failure of the federal government team to present new figure to the organized labour.
The federal government and the Organized Private Sector had presented N60,000 as new minimum wage but it was rejected by the organized labour.
Recall that Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had disclosed the President’s ultimatum in an interview with correspondents on Tuesday.
Idris emphasized that the President is committed to a new minimum wage that is acceptable, sustainable, and realistic for all Nigerians, involving not just the federal government but also sub-nationals and the organized private sector.
