The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide has directed residents affected by the recent demolition at Mende Villa Estate in Maryland to report grievances to the Lagos State Physical Planning and Building Control Appeals Committee.
Speaking during the ongoing 2024 ministerial briefing, Olumide explained that the demolition was necessary as the estate was built on the Odo Iya-Alaro water channel servicing parts of the mainland.
He urged residents to desist from encroaching on rights of way to achieve the state’s smart city goals.
Olumide who announced a 40% rebate on planning permit approvals and duties also announced a 90-day amnesty window from May 2nd to July 30th for owners to regularize building documents as per planning laws.
