Five suspected kidnappers were arrested after their victims, including a pastor’s wife, managed to escape when the kidnappers fell asleep under the influence of drugs in Ondo State.
The escape occurred when the kidnappers, sedated from drug consumption, inadvertently allowed their captives to flee while en route to their hideout.
The suspects were apprehended by the Ofosu Division police following victim identifications.
The arrested individuals are Garuba Mumuni, 27, Yusuf Tale, 21, Kabiru Muhammed, 16, Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed, both 22.
According to the police, a pastor’s wife and church member were abducted from their church, while a third victim was taken while collecting snails at a farm.
These victims escaped on different dates and subsequently aided police through their identification of the suspects.
Ondo police commissioner, Peter Abayomi, said one of the victims identified two of the suspects as part of the people who kidnapped him and collected the sum of ₦1,800,000 as ransom before he was released.”
He added that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
