The lagos state government has confirmed the establishment of over four brand new schools in the first tenure of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.
The chairman of the State Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools, Hakeem Smith said this during the briefing of the Ministry of Education, within the first year of the governor’s second tenure.
Meanwhile, the ministry has rehabilitated 165 public schools, constructed 1,047 new classrooms and built new hostel blocks in Lagos-owned boarding schools.
Lagos SCRPS has also provided 1,593 beds in the hostels, while over 200,000 units of dual composite furniture were also provided in the schools including principals and teachers’ furniture.
Smith said the governor had commissioned these schools in the bid to improve access and quality of education in the state, work more schools in Otumara (Ebute Metta), Elemoro Senior (Ibeju Lekki) and Egbin (Ikorodu).
He also assured that the government is committed to the establishment of more special schools across the state to meet the educational needs of persons with disabilities.
