The Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development in Ondo state, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye physically assaulted a Journalist with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Tayo Ikujuni, during the conduct of the All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship primary.
The incident happened at Eji-Oba High school, Oba-Ile, the venue of Ward 9 election in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the Yusuf-Ogunleye punched Ikujuni’s hand at 11:45am when the reporter inquire if the electoral materials had arrived, since they have started counting.
When queried Yusuf-Ogunleye, said that the reporter failed to produce his identity cards when he was asked.
Consequently, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, in a statement by its State Chairman, Leke Adegbite said the action of the Commissioner was uncivilized, and called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to immediately suspend Ogunleye and launch an investigation into the incident.
