The Federal High Court, Abuja has fixed May 20 to rule on the application seeking to transfer the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu away from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Justice Binta Nyako adjourned for ruling after Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor argued that his client should be relocated from the custody of the DSS and granted free access to his lawyers before he submits himself for trial.
He pointed out that ex-National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki; and leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, have enjoyed this privilege in the past.
However, the counsel for the prosecution, Adegboyega Awolomo, urged the court to dismiss the application with the court opting to adjourn the matter for ruling.
