
No less than four persons have died and over 700 injured after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan.
According to the director of Taipei’s Seismology Centre, Wu Chien-fu, the earthquake was the strongest in 25 years as it hit a depth of 15.5 kilometers with the epicenter around 25 kilometers southeast of Hualien.
Pictures and clips showed rescuers working to free the 77 people who remain trapped in buildings that currently lie in risky angles.
Taiwan”s fire department claimed at least 26 buildings had collapsed with more than half of that number in the eastern county of Hualien.
