The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has intercepted 51.9kg of heroin at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos – the largest-ever seizure at the airport.
NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa announced that operatives busted an international drug trafficking cartel on February 12th, seizing 49 blocks of high-grade heroin concealed in metal cutting machine cartons.

Four cartel members were later arrested in follow-up operations while Investigations revealed a South Africa-based operator had hired a Nigerian freight agent for clearing services.
He added that the cartel members arrested specialized in trafficking heroin across Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, Europe and America.
