The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has approved Morocco as host of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
The North African country got a boost after their closest challenger Algeria and Zambia withdrew from hosting the 2025 edition, leaving Morocco as the only candidate bidding to host the competition and they were unanimously awarded the hosting right.
Nigeria and Benin also tendered their withdrawal letter in the early hours of Wednesday as the Executive Committee meeting of the football was about to start.
Morocco last hosted the biennial competition in 1988.
