Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) group has denounced US sanctions against its deputy leader Abdel Rahim Dagalo and the group’s commander in West Darfur state, Gen Abdul Rahman-Juma, describing them as unfair and shocking.
The US imposed financial sanctions on Dagalo and a travel ban on Juma, over alleged rights abuses which both have denied.
In June, Washington also imposed sanctions on firms owned by the warring Sudanese military factions.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) the RSF described the US sanctions as shocking and unfair, noting that it is capable of disrupting that process of finding a comprehensive solution to the crisis in the country.
