THE OSENI CENTER
Africa is a mixed bag, on one hand so many possibilities and on the other so much illogicality. One wonders with Africa’s wealth why are her people poor.
In Nigeria, the shocking economic reality becomes more shocking, over 19 million out of School children like UNICEF claims, Primary School Completion rate is over 50 percent, Over 133 million Nigerians living in multidimensional poverty with little access to water and other facilities.
It is incumbent on this, I decided to continue with the heritage of my late parents who served in different capacities to bring succor to suffering people in general. After retirement from a successful Engineering career, My father Engr Oseni became a Community organizer, helping thousands of children to get access to quality education and my mother Mrs Taiye Oseni also cared for a lot of children being a Nurse and after going into private business.
THE CENTER
The center is poised to be a center that gives access to children in Odogbolu to meet their creative aspirations,It would also run a robust program through its website where children round the world can benefit. In Odogbolu currently, we are building a multidisciplinary and multipurpose center which will include a library, museum, technology hub and creativity development center, which will spur academic, creative expressions and exposure for poor and indigent students.
We also plan to have carefully curated programs for their development with will include:
- Debate and cultural exchanges
- Technology training and ICT
- Media classes for those passionate about media
- Art exhibitions
- Career day
- Mentorship and counseling
- Coding and software applications training
- Wealth creation through skill training
- Community development training
- Societal re-engineering courses
At the center, we will have a think-tank that will constantly develop curriculum to make the children develop mentally and emotionally, this will be done in tandem with a rich faculty around the world. We envisage a 10 year development plan starting from Odogbolu, but spreading our impact across the African continent with partnerships that will help spur growth.
Currently, we are in a partnership with One-Million teachers, an educational consortium, which has a robust curriculum and training for teachers all over Africa and our center in Odogbolu, once built, will also help with training the teachers that train our students.
CONCLUSION
At the Oseni Center, we believe in creating value for every community inundated with undervalued assets like our children. We always step in to help and promote programs and partnerships that our children can benefit from.We look forward to having future deliberations with you on this idea.
