The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has claimed ignorance of the whereabouts of the suspended Adamawa Resident Electoral Commission (REC), Hudu Ari and has urged the police to declare him wanted.
This is according to National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye who again denounced Ari’s illegal declaration of All Progressives Congress candidate, Aisha Dahiru Binani, as the winner of the April Adamawa supplementary poll.
Okoye was responding to questions of Ari’s whereabouts in a recent television interview on Channels Television.
“We don’t know where he is because, after this particular incident, the Commission wrote him and also called him on the phone. He never returned any of the calls; he never answered any of the calls.
“We asked him to report to the Commission on Sunday we didn’t see him, we asked him to report on Monday we didn’t see him. So up till this moment, he has not reported and we don’t know his whereabouts,” INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye said.
Earlier,President Muhammadu Buhari approved the immediate suspension from office of Ari, pending the completion of an investigation by the Inspector General of Police on the actions of the REC during the Supplementary election in Adamawa State.
