The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has nullified the declaration of Aisha Dahiru Binani as winner of the Adamawa Governorship election and suspended collation of results.
Recall INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa, Yunusa Ari controversially announced Binani of the All Progressives Congress winner of the Governorship election.
But a statement signed by National Commissioner, Information & Voter Education, Festus Okoye, described the action of Ari, “usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer. It is null, void and of no effect.”
The Commission subsequently suspended collation of results of the supplementary elections and “invited all involved to the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja immediately.”
