Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis will miss the Good Friday “Way of the Cross” service due to extremely cold weather in Rome.
It is the first time that the Pope who is recovering from bronchitis and was recently discharged from the hospital will miss the service since he was elected in 2013.
The Way of the Cross service commemorates the 14 stations of Jesus’ suffering and death, from his condemnation to his burial.
The pontiff has suffered increasing health issues in recent years, and it was his second stay in hospital since 2021.
He would however preside over mass at St Peter’s Basilica and his expected to lead Easter mass at St Peter’s Square on Sunday.
