Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu has formally notified President Muhammadu Buhari of his desire to contest for the Presidency of the Senate and also urged him to take over the chairmanship of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after leaving office on May 29.
Kalu who paid the President a visit on Tuesday also made a case for the office of President of the Senate to be zoned to the South East.
He argued that though the zone might not have voted for the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, making him the Senate President would bring peace and honour to the country.
Kalu also praised the President, noting that Buhari’s interventions prior to the elections saved the APC from going under.
