
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says its officials have apprehended the traditional ruler of Kajola, Baale Akinola Adebayo and 37 persons over 2.2 tons of illicit drugs seized at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja, Lagos and other parts of the country.
Spokesman of the Agency, Femi Babafemi said operatives destroyed three cannabis farms in Kajo, a border town between Edo and Ondo measuring 39.8hectares reportedly owned by Adebayo.
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the Agency’s sniffer dogs helped intercept a consignment of 11.90 kilograms of heroin and 500grams of skunk concealed in deep freezers which were part of a cargo that arrived from South Africa.
Babafemi explained that four suspects and truck driver identified as Dairo Quam; Oluwaseun Ogunmene; Adeleke Abdulrasaq; Bamidele Adewale and Oluwafemi Ogunmeru have been arrested.
Similar raids in the Gate C departure hall of the MMIA resulted in the interception of 1.20kg tramadol capsules concealed inside a gift wrapping sheet while 34 compressed jumbo-size wraps of imported skunk weighing 17kg and concealed in two cooking gas cylinders were recovered at the Idiroko land border.
