You see Governor Ademola Adeleke had an Igbo mother and has an Igbo wife. The question of his ancestry did not even arise at all when he first contested and won the Senatorial seat of Osun West and later won the gubernatorial election in Osun State. I mean Osun; a core Yoruba State. What other evidence do our brothers and sisters from the East need to be assured that we are not Igbophobia. Our fathers never taught us to hate any race or tribe.
Why then are we against Patrick Chinedu’s ambition to rule Lagos? The first reason is because of the interests that threw him up. The second is because of his utterances about Yorùbá race. How he denigrated and keep denigrating our race and extolling his mother’s race. His hatred for anything Yorùbá is so great that he has deliberately refused to learn the language. He is not a Yorùbá speaker and we are afraid of getting the short end of the stick if he becomes the governor of the most prosperous Yoruba state.
You see, we and our fellow citizens from the East of Nigeria know what is at stake. We are both fighting for relevance, Lebensraum and the goody goodies of Lagos. They want one of theirs and we want one of ours. It is a healthy competition and the brickbats we are throwing at each other now should not be misinterpreted as hatred. Politics is a war fought with propaganda and PVCs. After the struggle is over, things will calm down and we will shout “Omo Ibo” “Omo Nna” when we see them and they will also yell “Omo Yoruba” “Ngbati” when they see us.
Meanwhile, this Saturday, I enjoin you all to vote for my candidate Sanwo Olu and to reject Patrick Chinedu of Labour Party. The antecedents of Patrick does not portray him as someone who is matured enough to keep the delicate balance among all the ethinc groups resident in Lagos. That boy will set Lagos ablaze if he gets to power. His wife Ifeoma Aniebo is also a rabid Yoruba hater. We saw that in her various tweets on twitter.
It is a matter of self preservation.
