The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto State has clarified that only one out of the 11 House of Representatives elections in the state was concluded while the remaining 10 remain inconclusive.

Earlier, the various returning officers in the three Senatorial districts declared the elections there inconclusive.

The clarification follows an initial statement by one of the commission’s spokesperson who had earlier declared all the National Assembly elections in the state inconclusive.

In the statement by the commission, the only concluded election was in Yabo-Shagari federal constituency where Umar Yabo of the Peoples Democratic Party defeated the incumbent member, representing the area and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abubakar Umar.

Yabo scored 24,792 votes while the APC candidate got 22,497 votes.
