CACOVID WINDS DOWN: BUHARI PRAISES PRIVATE SECTOR CONTRIBUTIONS
President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over a security council meeting at the council chambers Aso villa, Abuja
The meeting comes 3 days before the opening of the polls in Africa’s largest democracy.
Present at the meeting are service chiefs, the chief of defense staff, the inspector general of police, heads of the secret police (SSS) and the National Intelligence Agency.
Also in attendance is the Vice President.
Before the commencement of the security meeting, Buhari presided over the launch of security equipment donated by the Coalition Against Covid-19 (CACOVID).
The private sector led initiative in what it describes as its final commitment to the government and people of Nigeria donated over 300 vehicles , state of the art security equipment and gadgets to aid the fight against insecurity
As it winds down it commitment 2years after it was conceived to assist in responding to social- economic problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, chairman and co-convener Aliko Dangote reveals over 82billion Naira was mobilized for medical supplies, isolation centers construction, feeding of over 10million people, risk communication and Advocacy among other.
On his part, the Governor of the Central Bank, described the coalition as one of a kind . He praised the nationalistic and patriotic drive of the CACOVID
The president in his remarks, thanked the coalition for their voluntary contributions to Helping government efforts
