The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that election will not take place in 240 polling units across 28 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, stated this during a meeting with political parties in Abuja.

Yakubu stated that no voters indicated interest to transfer to those units during the last voter registration due to insecurity, hence the total polling units for elections is now 176,606.

Earlier, Chairman of the Interparty Advisory Committee, Sani Yabagi warned the commission against postponing the elections, stating that such action would have dire consequences.
