The Edo State Government says the number of abducted passengers at the Tom Ikimi/Ekehen Station in Igueben were 20 and not 32 as widely reported.

Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare made this known to newsmen while giving updates on the latest rescue.

He said seven of the abductees have been rescued, leaving 13 victims still with the gunmen.

He added that security agents, vigilante members and hunters were on the heels of the Ak-47-wielding gunmen.

Recall that Executive Director, Esan Youth for Good Governance and Social Justice, Benson Odia had told newsmen that the kidnappers were demanding N20m for each victim.

Odia stated that the demand was absurd, calling on the authorities to intensify efforts in rescuing the 31 hostages in the custody of the kidnappers.
