The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa, and other leaders of the party on Saturday met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta.
The governor, who was accompanied by Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who is also the PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, former Osun and Jigawa state governors, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Sule Lamido, and others met with Obasanjo at his residence at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta .
Okowa was said to have met with Obasanjo ahead of the Monday campaign in Lagos State.
Speaking after the meeting with Obasanjo, Tambuwal said the team came to consult the former President.
Tambuwal said, “We are here to pay our usual respect and to continue to consult our leader, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on matters of national interest and we have had a very fruitful conversation with him
“We’re in the build-up and we will continue to do what we have to do to win the election.
“My message to Nigerians is that we should come out en masse when it is time in February to vote for a balanced ticket that reflects the characteristics of this country; that will provide leadership, that will stabilise this country and revive our economy and foster more of national unity and that is Atiku Abubakar and Governor Okowa.”
When asked on what should be expected in Lagos on Monday,
Tambuwal said, “a very rousing and large crowd.”
