The Independent National Electoral Commission says the arsonists attacking the commission’s facilities nationwide cannot stop the 2023 elections.

Speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, while assessing the INEC office set ablaze by the hoodlums, inec Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, described the arsonists as undemocratic and retrogressive elements.

the INEC chairman vowed that the commission would not bow to an act of arson, saying five facilities were attacked nationwide in the last four months.

Yakubu said efforts are in top gear towards replacing the materials lost to the inferno, stressing that INEC is determined to make 2023 elections the best ever.

Arsonists had on November 10 razed down the commission’s office at Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta South Local Government Area, and destroyed over 65,000 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards.

Apart from Ogun State, the hoodlums had recently attacked INEC offices in Osun and Ebonyi States.
