Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has made a strong case for the development of more Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) saying that an estimated 40 million of them have positive indications for job and wealth creation, as well as poverty reduction in the country.
Osinbajo who gave the assurance in Abuja, while launching the forum of MSMES Business Membership Organizations of Nigeria stated that the sector accounts for 50% of Nigeria’s GDP and 88% of employment.
The Vice President, therefore, reiterated the present administration’s resolve towards establishing a strong foundation for a diversified economy through enhancing and promoting robust MSME growth.
He Stated Nigeria can no longer deal with this critical sector in a ‘business as usual’ manner.
