Recently,I was shocked at the result of a bidding process by the federal government on who to handle the airport.I have always advocated for Nigerian companies to be given all the support to run our airports, as it would provide job and build competence.

In September 2022, the consortium formed by TAV Airports Holding, Nahco Management Services Ltd and Planet Project Limited, submitted a bid for the tender to operate and develop the international passenger & cargo terminals of Lagos Airport in Nigeria for a period of 20 years.

According to an announcement made by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Consortium has been selected as the “preferred  bidder”. This selection is subject to the necessary official approvals.

After the necessary approvals are obtained, the next step in the tender process is a negotiation stage between FAAN and the Consortium.

I must confess this is another shocking decision as this rubbishes the talk on the need for local content.

I know a lot with say NAHCO is Nigerian, but I will have Favored multiple Nigerian companies and not just another foreign unsustainable invasion of our aviation space.it has to be said we must give our own businesses an enabling environment to thrive and do well.

Bicourtney had hitherto done a good job at the local airport, its shocking we have all forgotten that.
