Popular Nigerian singer and one half of the singing duo P Square, Peter Okoye has endorsed a statement by broadcast Journalist, Rufai Oseni demanding the presence of all Presidential Candidates at debate events.

Oseni, speaking on current political happenings ahead of the 2023 elections on Arise TV, demanded that “All Candidates must attend the Presidential debate if you want Nigerians to take you serious”.

The statement was endorsed by the Okoye twin who transcribed it, tweeted it and attached the following emoji’s “πŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ’―πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ“Œ” indicating approval.

Debates are often held before the presidential elections but on most occasions, frontline Candidates are notorious for missing such events.

For instance, President Muhammadu Buhari was absent from the debate in 2015 and 2019.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who was the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 had initially arrived the venue of the debate organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) but pulled out when he learnt President Buhari was not going to attend.

Oseni’s statement has received endorsement from several twitter users.

See the thread below;

I agree to this. But before you come for debate, show us your achievements.

Ordinary HR dey ask for CV with verifiable achievements before dem call person for interview. @officialABAT @atiku @KwankwasoRM and others should show us their #verifiable achievements before the debate.
