The Lagos State Government has sealed off Blessed Happy Homes Superstore at 6th Avenue, FESTAC Town, for selling expired Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products and violating health and safety regulations.
This was disclosed in a clip shared by the Commissioner for Works and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post shared on X.
In the video, the General Manager of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Afolabi Solebo explained that the LASCOPA team had identified several expired products on the shelves, including baby food items that had expired as far back as 2023 which included items that could pose serious health risks to consumers.
He reiterated that the owner of the supermarket would face legal prosecution for violating consumer protection laws.
He assured the public that LASCOPA would roll out more awareness campaigns on consumer protection in the coming months.
