The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly opposed any attempts to position Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as the next governor of Lagos State in 2027.
Recent endorsements from groups like the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders and Friends of Seyi Tinubu have sparked heated debates. While these groups praised Seyi’s leadership qualities, critics argue that governorship should not become a family inheritance.
Lagos PDP spokesperson Hakeem Amode dismissed the notion, stating, “Lagos will not serve him,” and warning against repeating political tactics seen in other states. He added that many Lagosians had already rejected the Tinubu dynasty during the presidential elections.
But the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, dismissed the conversation about the 2027 elections as premature.
“It is too early to be discussing the 2027 elections,” he said, urging people to focus on supporting current government.
He said, “We should rally behind the governor and the president now to advance development.”
