President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm his nominees for appointment into the governing boards of the South-West, North-Central, and South-South Development Commissions.

In letters read during Thursday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu proposed former Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi as Chairman and Charles Akinola as Managing Director for the South-West Development Commission.

Other nominees include former Lagos lawmaker Funmilayo Tejuosho and political figures from across the region and other zones.

For the North-Central Development Commission, Cosmas Akyhir of Benue was nominated as Chairman, with Plateau’s Tsenyil Cyril Yiltsen as Managing Director. The board comprises representatives from all North-Central states, the FCT, and other geopolitical zones, including Solomon Adodo (FCT), Dr. Atinuke Owolabi (South West), and Chief Boniface Izziogu (South East).

In the South-South Development Commission, former Deputy Speaker Chibudom Nwuche of Rivers State was nominated as Chairman, with Usoro Offiong Akpabio from Akwa Ibom as Managing Director. The board features regional representatives and zonal nominees, such as Engr. Aganaba Preye Steven (Bayelsa) and Ambassador Sony Abang (Cross River).

After reading Tinubu’s letters of request, Akpabio referred them to the senate committees on the various commissions to be constituted soon and to report to plenary in one week.
