Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked the 27 Task Force Brigade in Bunigari, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The attack is coming less than 48 hours after the North-East governors concluded their 11th forum meeting in Damaturu to develop strategies to address the region’s 15-year security crisis.

A resident of the area said the attackers targeted the military base around 1.00am on Saturday.

A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the attack but indicated details remained unclear at the time of reporting.

In recent weeks, insurgents have attacked military formations, destroyed a culvert along Goniri Road and abducted individuals on the Damaturu-Bunigari-Biu Road, causing alarm among nearby communities.
