A Federal Government Agency, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has begged Nigerians to promote and purchase Made-In-Nigeria products, including its 10-inch tablets, locally manufactured laptops, and soon-to-be-launched electric tricycles (Keke Napep).
Addressing Stakeholders in Akure, Ondo State, NASENI’s Deputy Director of Engineering, Joseph Alasoluyi, acknowledged barriers like public perception about product quality and pricing, but stressed NASENI’s capacity to develop globally competitive machinery.
He said the agency is also advancing in solar-powered irrigation, CNG conversion, and block-making technology and urged coordinated efforts to shift consumer preference towards indigenous products, under NASENI’s “3 Cs” strategy implying Creation, Collaboration, and Commercialisation.
In his remarks, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Dr Samuel Oluyamo, criticised weak government support, noting that technological growth will remain stunted until local research is scaled into mass production.
