Three operatives of the National Drug Law Agency (NDLEA) sustained gunshot wounds during a Thursday night raid on a drug den in Abuja’s Jahi district, the agency confirmed Friday.

NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi stated that officers recovered 74 codeine bottles, 10 litres of codeine syrup, 48g of tramadol, and 4.9kg of cannabis from an uncompleted NNPC-area building before being ambushed.

“The team came under gunfire while exiting,” Babafemi said, revealing one officer was shot in the rib while two others sustained back and leg injuries. The wounded were stabilized at Garki’s Police Clinic before transfer to National Hospital Abuja.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd.), currently in Kano, personally contacted the hospital’s chief medical director and spoke with the injured officers, vowing to collaborate with security agencies to apprehend the attackers.
