The Osun State Amotekun Corps has arrested 26-year-old John Uba, a serial offender who previously escaped from police custody, during a robbery operation in Osogbo’s Fiwasaye area.

Corps Commandant, Adekunle Omoyele revealed that Uba was apprehended around midnight on Thursday, April 17, 2024, after residents reported an ongoing robbery.

“Investigation showed he had earlier escaped from Ota-Efun Police Division,” Omoyele stated, adding that the suspect has been returned to police custody.

In a separate operation, Amotekun arrested 28-year-old Aderemi Sheriff for allegedly stealing electrical cables worth over N5 million near Hammed Omidiran University.

Sheriff, an ex-convict, confessed to abandoning his failed marijuana business for theft. Omoyele linked him to an armed vandalism gang that clashed with Amotekun last year.

The corps also paraded three suspects – Idowu Tajudeen, 27, Bamanga Joffrey, 24, and Femi Adeniyi, 22, caught stealing a pumping machine in Osogbo’s GRA. All suspects will face prosecution.
