The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has announced the collapse of three towers due to the tripping of the Ikeja West-Osogbo 330 kV line during a windy rainfall, resulting in a load loss of 165 megawatts.
According to a statement signed by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, yesterday, the incident happened on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 9:22 pm at a distance of about 14.9km from the Ikeja-West transmission substation.
Mbah revealed a thorough investigation, revealing extensive damage to Tower 528, which collapsed due to a trailer truck hitting detached conductors on Tower 527.
