The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has expressed concern over the declining adherence to ethical principles in the legal profession.
Speaking at the public presentation of the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) report in Abuja, she urged legal practitioners to recommit to ethics, discipline, and professional responsibility.
Justice Kekere-Ekun emphasized the role of the Body of Benchers in upholding the profession’s integrity, stating that the enforcement of professional discipline must be fair, transparent, and resolute.
“The enforcement of professional discipline among legal practitioners, through the LPDC, is a vital function that must be pursued with fairness, transparency, and unwavering resolve.”
She reaffirmed that the Body of Benchers, as the apex legal institution in Nigeria, must continue to lead the charge in ensuring ethical and professional standards within the judiciary.
