President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on receiving the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award, commending his dedication to peace, democracy, and global harmony.
In a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Jonathan’s steadfast advocacy for peace and unity, noting that his recognition by the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee affirms his commitment to fostering democracy in Africa and beyond.
The president also recalled Jonathan’s historic acceptance of the 2015 presidential election results and his peaceful transition of power, which strengthened Nigeria’s democratic reputation.
An aide to the former President, Ikechuwku Eze had stated earlier that Jonathan was conferred with the prize for his consistent mediations and pro-democracy activities to bring peace to the African continent.
