The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Falade for allegedly impersonating a retired United States military officer and inciting unrest in Idogun community, Ose Local Government Area.
State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed on Monday that Falade who claimed to be a retired Navy Captain had terrorised the community for years. Despite police invitations, he reportedly responded with insults and escalated tensions after a peace meeting.
Falade was arrested alongside fake Air Force personnel and charged with 10 counts, including abduction and property confiscation. After his remand, his supporters rioted, attacking police and blocking roads. One officer sustained a machete injury before order was restored.
CP Afolabi urged residents to resolve disputes lawfully, warning against violence. Investigations into the incident continue.
